Memorial Day is much more than a long weekend and the kick off for summer. Deeply rooted in the aftermath of the Civil War, it lead to a long lived national holiday that acknowledges so many of the brave souls who gave their lives for the freedoms we have bestowed upon us today.
What many of us may not be aware of, is the National Moment of Remembrance Act. On each Memorial Day, 3pm (local time) is designated as National Moment of Remembrance, in honor of the men and women of the United States who dies in pursuit of freedom and peace.
Why 3pm? Well, it is the time when most Americans are enjoying their freedoms of the national day.
So take a pause. Raise a glass. Wave a flag. And remember.
